From the arid deserts of northern Mexico to the Lacandon rainforests of southern Mexico, we are introduced to the richness of Mexico’s geography and history. Spanish language and culture dominate Mexico City and elsewhere, but 22 existing Indian peoples continue traditional languages and cultures. Other important cities such as Cuernavaca, Taxco and Merida are investigated, as are regions or states such as Oaxaca, the Yucatan Mayan ruins, and barren but beautiful Baja California.
