A political satire written in the guise of an allegory. The animals on a farm rise up, overthrow their master, and take over the running of the farm themselves. The pigs, being more intelligent, are the leaders. Gradually the utopian stage passes, and dictatorship seeps in. The situation turns out to be no better than it was before.
