This DVD contains adaptations of three picture books: Duke Ellington: The Piano Prince And His Orchestra, by Andrea Davis Pinkney; Ella Fitzgerald: The Tale of a Vocal Virtuosa, by Andrea Davis Pinkney; and Ellington Was Not a Street, by Ntozake Shange. The first story recounts the career of jazz musician and composer, Duke Ellington. The second story highlights the career of the jazz and gospel singer, Ella Fitzgerald. The third story looks back at the great Black thinkers and innovators who visited the author's father.
