The tangram is a centuries-old puzzle, said to be of Chinese origin, consisting of seven geometric pieces: five triangles, one square, and one rhomboid. Using these seven pieces, the player tries to recreate one of several hundreds of different shapes, without allowing the pieces to overlap. These shapes can be figurative—animals, objects, faces, etc.—or they can be abstract, and they range in difficulty from easy to hard. This kit contains approximately 60 sets of the standard seven tangram pieces (approximately 420 pieces total), five copies of The Book of Tangrams by Sam Loyd, and five copies of Tangrams: 330 Puzzles by Ronald C.
